Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts are a Hong Kong based, one of the world’s premier hotel companies which currently manages 72 hotels, with a room inventory of over 30,000. Shangri-La leisure group has acquired six acres of government property near the Galle Face Green where the army headquarters is located and another property at Hambantota. The two proposed hotels will complete constructions on 2014 with luxury facilities.
The Shangri-La group endorses the Economic Prospects of Sri Lanka since his Excellency the President, Mahinda Rajapaksa has ended the civil war and also accelerating long term infrastructure development. This stable situation has gained continues foreign investments in Sri Lanka which is a green-light to the country. Shangri-La will invest about 500 million US dollars in the hotel project which will have almost 500 rooms.
